The volcanic landscape of the Auvergne is unique & the region is a fantastically unspoilt area of central France. Having visited the Cantal department myself this year, I can honestly say that if you have even the remotest interest in outdoor activities and nature, then you simply must add this area to your ‘to visit’ list. Whether your interests are wildlife, walking, road biking, mountain biking, fishing, golf, horseriding, paragliding, Alpine or Nordic/cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or even just flora and fauna and fresh air, this region will delight you. Those of you with an interest in history and culture won’t be disappointed either with museums to visit such as those at Chamalières, Mont Mouchet and Frugières-les-Pins which focus on the French Resistance in World War 2. There are numerous abbeys that are open to the public, parks and gardens to visit and let’s not forget the children….there are many lakes with man-made beaches at which various watersports can be enjoyed in warmer months as well as waterparks in the area. Lastly, no visit to the Auvergne would be complete without a visit to Vulcania, 15kms from Clermont-Ferrand.
For your stay in the area, we are delighted to bring you this lovely British-owned bed and breakfast accommodation which is ideally placed not only for a stopover on your journey to the south of France, but also as a base from which to explore this rich area. Located in an idyllic setting 25 minutes east of Issoire, you will enjoy wonderful views towards the volcanic Sancy mountain range
