Great value family friendly chateau B&B near Arras, Vimy and Calais France

ID: 89
This wonderful family friendly chateau bed and breakfast near Arras and Vimy is a beautiful place, both inside and out. It also happens to be one of the best value for money bed and breakfast experiences in the Calais region, in our opinion

Just 30 minutes from Vimy and 25 from Arras it is in a great situation both for a stopover en route to or from Calais (just a 1h30 drive) or for a short break to explore the Vimy area, the underground tunnels in Arras and of course the Somme.

The lovely old family friendly chateau is protected from the road that passes through the quiet little village by high stone walls beyond which acres of lawns, parkland and apple orchards open up before your eyes. Jane Austen would have been very much at home here!

Naturally there is plenty of space for the children to run about and burn off that excess energy after a long car journey but there are plenty of quiet, tranquil areas of the gardens in which you can sit and unwind too.

The decor inside is exactly as you would expect in a chateau such as this. The chequered floored entrance hall complete with wooden spiral staircase and stained glass windows leads up to the guest rooms on the first floor. They are all large and comfy, furnished with old French furniture but with bright (the floor to ceiling windows are amazing), clean and with modern bathrooms.

Breakfast is taken in the wood-panelled dining room (see if you can find the secret doors!) and is a real treat with the owners' home-produced apple juice which, I can assure you, is the best apple juice you will ever have tasted. The croissants are huge and fresh and the home made jams are delicious.

There are restaurants in the area, a short drive away - ask your hosts for recommendations.

Just to let you know our booking at the chateau bed and breakfast address near Arras was a huge success. The accommodation was just what we wanted; beautiful, comfortable rooms, lovely surroundings, and our host and hostess were very friendly and helpful, when necessary. All very french and enjoyable. - The Partridge family - UK

A wonderful, wonderful family and chateau. We loved the place. The room was lovely and clean and our treatment by Sylvie and Emmanuel could not have been bettered. Their young family is lovely and the surrounding grounds and area excellent. I thoroughly recommended to anyone wishing to visit the area and especially the WW1 Battlefields. Best places to eat, when it's open, was Doullens along with Arras. Not an awful lot of choice in the little farming villages but nevertheless if you looked there were places tucked away. In all, the place was just as one would have expected from a beautiful chateau and family. - The Duddings

What a beautiful old house near Arras, albeit Emmanuel and Sylvie have a real challenge to improve and conserve the property. The room was excellent. The bathroom could benefit from having a proper show fitting. The breakfast was as expected. Our welcome etc was excellent. The apple juice they sell is fabulous.....wish I had bought more than 6 bottles! The lack of a local dinner facility is a downside but we wanted to see Arras anyway so we coped. Overall good value for money and I would go back if in that area again. - The Slacks

We stayed one night at the chateau bed and breakfast accommodation near Arras as a stopover and found it ideal. The room was clean and well maintained. The furniture was antique and completely fitted in with the chateau image. The hostess was charming. The lack of an evening meal was not a problem since we visited Doullens. The breakfast was typically French and more than adequate. We will definitely use the chateau again when in the area. - the Pugsleys

We stayed at this chateau recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was beautiful as was the chateau - the pictures on the website do not do it justice. We dined in Arras which is a beautiful city only 15 mins away which is not clear from the site - maybe they should mention this, as we were very pleasantly surprised to discover how lovely Arras is ! Madame was very welcoming and they also have local produce on sale which we bought eg home made jams & apple juice. We shall definitely stay here again - the Powners

OPOur stay at the chateau B&B near Arras has to be one of the most memorable places we have ever stayed. The chateau is stunningly beautiful & crammed with antiques and objets d'art. The breakfast was delicious especially the fruit juice and jam made there. We arrived tired and had been to the supermarket at Arras, we had children and did not want to go out again, so at the suggestion of the proprietors we picnicked at a table in their magnificent dining room. This B & B would not suit those who demand TVs in the room & fancy showers, but the bath was clean & modern with hot water and as I said the place was an absolute delight. We all slept peacefully in the large bedrooms. I felt I had stepped into the 19th century (but with warmth & hot water!) - the Abou-Jaoude family

We had a great stay at the chateau B&B near Arras, although possibly too short! Lovely old house with comfy rooms and perfect for a stopover - the Geddes family

Our stay was a highlight of the trip!! The chateau B&B near Arras was beautiful, Madame was a gracious host giving us suggestions for places to eat and talking to my son in French ( and to us in English). The room was perfect for a family of 4 and the breakfast was superb. Thank you very much! - the Bradshaw family

We loved our stay at the chateau near Arras. It was peaceful and comfortable. Madame also recommended a wonderful restaurant in Doullens. We would definitely stay here again! Many thanks for your help with my booking. - Mrs Hunt
