These two Independent self-catering gites provide luxury accommodation in the village of Thors, 15 minutes from Cognac in the heart of the Charente-Maritime region of France. These superbly restored 18th century stone-built properties are in a quiet village, surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers. The owner is an ex interior designer and the interiors reflect her past profession. The properties have central heating, a parking area and free access to the tennis court. There is a library and television (French) and games for all ages. There is an outdoor play area for children, "pétanque", volley-ball, ping-pong. There is also a laundry service , and a microwave area. Car or bicycle renting, market and all shops and services are available in the village of Matha which is just 3kms away. There are golf courses in COGNAC 20 mins, SAINTES 30 mins and ROYAN 45 mins. The beach is 65 kms away.

On the ground floor of this gite there is a sitting room 38 sq m in size with exposed original beams, an original charentaise open fire-place, sofas and armchairs, television and hi-fi. The dining room/kitchen is 30 sqm in size and is fully equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, cooking area, oven etc. There is a utility-room with washing machine, drying machine and central heating boiler. There is also a WC on the ground floor.
First floor - rest-room with armchairs, bedroom 1 with a double bed and ensuite bathroom, bedroom 2 with a double bed and one single bed, separate bathroom and separate WC.
The gite has its own enclosed 11 x 4m swimming pool and enclosed gardens. Included in the price is free access to the tennis court of SONNAC nearby. Rental is per week from Saturday to Saturday.

Le Clos Bérénice
This is beautiful self-catering cottage accommodation which dates back to the early 18th century and includes 150 m2 of living space and is surrounded by 500 m2 of grounds. Original features have been retained in the sympathetic removation, including exposed stone walls and old beams. The cottage is situated in a small Charentais village surrounded by vines that produce grapes for Cognac distillation. The cottage has its own private pool and sun loungers plus a 'summer-room', an open space in which you can relax or dine, making use of its barbecue facilities, exterior oven, etc.
On the ground floor there is a large dining-room/kitchen with original exposed beams, which faces the private courtyard and summer-room. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, cooking area and oven. The 30 m2 sitting room has original exposed bleached beams, an open charentaise original fireplace, sofa and armchairs, television, hi-fi and DVD-player. There is a separate utility room with washing-machine and tumble-dryer. The cottage also has a ground floor WC
