This old charming Charentais farmhouse, parts of which are believed to date back to the 1750's, is set in its own secluded gardens of over 1/2 an acre, with a swimming pool, in the hamlet of Le Grand Chevallon in the heart of the Charente-Maritime, just 20 minutes from the historic town of Saintes, 50 minutes from Cognac and just 30 minutes from the Atlantic beaches. Here,the emphasis is on informality, peace and tranquillity and for this reason, children are not accepted at the acommodation
Within the grounds, you have the choice of either a separate self contained open plan studio or a converted stable, both full of character and well-decorated

Self Catering Accommodation Possibility 1
The cottage
Theis 35m2 self-contained open plan accommodation has a double bed which can be split into two single beds if required. It has a sitting room, kitchen, cooker, 2 ring electric hob, a microwave, fridge, washing machine, shower and WC. There is a garden area outside with garden furniture and a BBQ. Linen and towels are provided except for longer lets. A DVD player is now provided for your entertainment!

This converted Bergerie can accommodate 2 people with either twin beds or a double bed as required. It has a sitting room, kitchen, cooker, fridge, shower, WC and washing machine. The accommodation is ground level and has its own garden with furniture and BBQ. There is a DVD player and French TV in the gite.

The Charente River with its wonderful scenery and water activities is less than 3 miles away. The old and cosmopolitan town of La Rochelle, steeped in nautical history, with its many cafes, restaurants and daily market, is reached in 40 minutes by car. Bordeaux is 1 1/2 hours drive via the A10 Motorway. Futuroscope near Poitiers is 2 hours drive from the house.
