This is charming British-owned bed and breakfast accommodation situated on the edge of the medieval village of Bazoges en Pareds in the Vendee, 20 minutes drive from the historic market town of Fontenay le Comte. The Grand Parc and Cinescope of Puy de Fou is approx 45 minutes drive. The Marais Poitevin with its sleepy waterways, boat rides and beautiful abbeys is approx 30 minutes drive. Mervent forest and zoo, children's adventure parks, go karting, museums, churches, chateaus and the beautiful village of painters at Vouvant are all within a 15 minute drive. You can reach the golden Vendee blue flag award winning beaches stretching for 120km and the pretty harbour of La Rochelle with its famous aquarium, numerous bars and restaurants and great shopping within 1 hours drive. Nearest airports are Nantes and La Rochelle both 1 hours drive. The driving time from St Malo channel port is 2.5 hours with Le Havre 5 hours. The accommodation is 30 minutes from junction 5 off the A83 Nantes to Bordeaux motorway.
This period farmhouse constructed of local stone and beams, probably dating back 300 years, has been lovingly restored by its British owners in 2007. Set in 4 acres of its own pastureland, it is a traditional style French farmhouse, u-shaped, set round a central courtyard with many outbuildings including wine press, bread oven and wine cave. A 5 minute stroll down the walled lane, passing the chateau, will bring you to the foot of the medieval Donjon in the heart of our village, with it's living museums and historic gardens all well worth exploring. The village contains a boulangerie, small shop, pharmacy, café bar and superb restaurant offering finest french cuisine and cookery lessons.
Continental breakfast is served either al fresco or in the spacious dining room with homemade preserves and local pastries. Barbecues can be arranged at a cost payable directly to the accommodation. Pets are welcome free of charge but unfortunately they cannot be accommodated in the house. However, there are lots of outbuildings available. Owners have a cat. Plenty of parking space in front of the house. Guests have access to tea and coffee-making facilities in the dining room |
