This elegant British-owned 18th century manor house offering bed and breakfast accommodation has been welcoming guests since 2003 with many guests returning yesr after year. Located near the village of Jarze it is just 8 minutes drive from Junction 12 of the A11. Angers airport is a 10 minute drive (flights from Southampton 3 times a week) and Tours and Nantes airports are easily accessible. Caen is a comfortable 2.5 hour drive. Between the rivers Loir and Loire, this chambre/table d'hotes is situated in gentle wooded country-side, approx 25 minutes east of Angers, 35 minutes north-west of Saumur and 45 minutes south of Le Mans. The Loire Valley chateaux and vineyards and the historic centres of Tours, Chinon and Fontevraud are all within easy reach.
The property has been restored by French artisans to combine 18th century charm and elegance with 21st century comfort and convenience. The three guest rooms offer supremely comfortable superking or twin beds (many guests have commented on their comfort), with en suite shower rooms, Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels and bathrobes and Roget et Gallet toiletries are provided. A hospitality tray is provided with filter coffee, a selection of teas and biscuits and there is a mini fridge for fresh milk and filtered water. Guests have their own sitting room, located on the ground floor, cosy without being small, elegant without being formal. It has a warm terracotta tiled floor, a lovely original marble fireplace, an honesty bar and a relaxing outlook over the gardens. There are plenty of books and magazines, a variety of card and board games and comfy sofas and armchairs.
The house is surrounded by 4 acres of grounds including a small wood, meadow, potager (the owners grow as much produce for the table as they can), flower garden, small orchard, pond and large rear terrace as well as the lovely heated simming pool. The pool is located in a sunny spot by the old stables, is 10m x 5m with a 'Roman End' and is fully alarmed in accordance with the latest French regulations. There is also a refreshing solar heated shower. The grounds are home to various species of owls as well as deer, hares (which breed each Spring in the meadow), and approximately 100 species of birds.
The owners have negotiated discounted green fees at 4 golf courses and golf breaks can be arranged. |

On the top floor, under the eaves, the three ensuite guest rooms have been welcoming guests since the end of May 2003. They are light and bright with a low key elegance and are all based around classic Toile de Jouy, but each has its own feel and personality. You will enjoy comfortably firm king size or twin beds (please specify on the enquiry form if you prefer twin beds), a bedside table with a good reading light and room for a carafe of nighttime water, somewhere cosy to sit and enjoy a quiet drink.
The beds are all provided with Egyptian cotton bed linen and a choice of firm or soft pillows, cosy covered hot water bottles for those of you who suffer from cold toes, your own mini fridge so you can enjoy fresh milk with the tea and filter coffee you will find in your room ( as well as keeping your emergency bottle of white wine nicely chilled). And in the ensuite shower rooms, plenty of hot water from showers that can give you a good pummel or a gentle caress, deep pile towels and generously sized bathrobes, room to arrange your own travelling essentials without having to live out of your toilet bag and a selection of quality soaps and toiletries.
One room can accommodate an extra single child's bed. Two cots are available free of charge.

Previous visitor comments You asked for some feedback on our stay at the bed and breakfast accommodation near Angers - Quite simply superb! We were both made very welcome after a relatively long drive and found our room to be immaculately clean and well presented. Highlight for our
one night stay on our trip down to Bergerac was the evening meal that Peter prepared for us - quite simply mouth wartering. Ideal location if you're driving down to the south of France as the house is only a short detour from the main southbound main roads. Highly recommended in our opinion. - the Hasties, 2007 |
