This British-owned bed and breakfast accommodation is situated above the picturesque small riverside town of Putanges-Pont-Écrépin in Normandy, just 45 minutes south of the ferry port at Caen and the D Day Normandy landing beaches. Bayeux and Mont Michel are also both possible as day trips. A day trip to Paris by train is even possible from the local station.
The accommodation is set in over 2 acres of walled grounds containing many lovely mature trees and home to numerous birds and a family of red squirrels. There is a guests' lounge in which you can relax and you are welcome to enjoy the grounds to play pétanque, have a picnic or use the barbeque if you wish.
There is a choice of places to eat within a 2 minute stroll at either the Brasserie or small hotel restaurant overlooking the river. Nearby, there is a large man made lake, offering a variety of water sports as well as the chance to cruise while enjoying either lunch or dinner on board.
All of the fully ensuite bedrooms are individually decorated with tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and English/French adapter plugs. There is also an iron and ironing board available should you need one. Accompanying animals are not accepted at this address. The accommodation offers free WiFi internet access.

We stayed at this bed and breakfast accommodation near Caen in Normandy for one night on the way back from southern France to the ferry at Caen. The house is easy to find, only a short distance from the motorway travelling north to Caen, and about 45 minutes to the Caen ferry in the morning. We received a warm welcome, and Magda joined us for a cold drink in the garden. The property is a large old house overlooking the historic town of Putagnes, in excellent condition, and our room was exactly as described: spotlessly clean and well appointed. The lounge and dining room are appointed to a high country house hotel standard. The location is quiet, yet a short walk into the village square. Our evening meal was 3 courses, plus cheese and high quality wine and coffee and my wife had a different vegetarian main course. All were to a very high standard (the souflee starter was exceptional) and the bill was 25 euros each: amazingly low for current french prices. Certainly our best meal in France! - Mr & Mrs Mills
