This pretty, English-owned Normandy bed and breakfast accommodation is situated on the edge of the small, quiet but thriving village of Bourth which is awash with flowers throughout the seasons. The village is just 3 1/2 hours from Calais, 2 ¼ hours from Dieppe, 50 miles south of Rouen and 1 ½ hours from Paris. Or why not leave the car and let your hosts take you to the station to catch the train for a day trip. Monets' garden at Giverny attracts many visitors throughout the summer but why not visit it in spring… it is beautiful.

I picked this B&B in Normandy largely based on its position in our tour, knowing little of the area or the property. The hosts were wonderful and welcomed us into their lovely home. I have never experienced a B&B accommodation like it and I doubt any will live up to their standards. Maggie & Mick are great hosts, preparing superb food from their own garden and the local providers and serving in a lovely family atmosphere, where the guests and hosts eat together. The evening meal is fantastic quality and value. I would happily stay here for a week or more and recommend them to anyone. One of the highest points of my first independant motorcycle venture into France. It won't be the last and this place is on my itinerary. - Mr Hines

I have to say that, for the price, the bed and breakfast accommodation that we stopped at in Normandy was excellent. We took over the place and had all three rooms, which were on the ground floor (great for my mother who has limited mobility). The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed with tea making facilities, a large bottle of water, etc. Two were en-suite, one had a nearby bathroom: all very new and modern with good fittings. Couldn't really ask for more. There was a sitting room with English TV which was available to us. The location of the house was in a small quiet village, so no problem with traffic noise. The owners were very welcoming without being intrusive and being English, I suppose helped them in knowing the sort of things we like, e.g. a nice cup of tea on arrival! We requested an evening meal in advance which was cooked by the owner and was delicious and very good value for 20 euros: Aperitif, starter, main course (+ wine), cheese, sweet and digestif. Breakfast was continental with fresh bread and croissants purchased from the local baker that morning and jams made by the owner. So, all in all, I could certainly recommend it for an overnighter or even a little longer. - Mr & Mrs Ironmonger
