Bed and breakfast in Saint Saens near Rouen in Normandy France
It is for Jean-Marie's hospitality and charm that you will remember this fantastic value bed and breakfast near Rouen (30 kms). If you are travelling from Calais (2 1/2 hours) to the Dordogne or the SW of France, this really is the perfect spot in which to break your journey being just 5 minutes from exit 11 of the A28 autoroute and exit 10 of the A29 autoroute.
Well hidden from the major roads, the cosy and very comfortable B&B is within walking distance of the centre of the pretty little village of Saine-Saens with its charming little restaurants and shops. The building itself dates back to the French Revolution, has tons of character and is full of history which the ever-engaging, entertaining and fluent English-speaking Jean-Marie will delight in sharing with you. He has done a great job of bringing the old building back into the 21st century and today it is a successful marriage of olde worlde charm and modern comforts and conveniences.
If you are able to arrive in decent time, make sure you reserve dinner in advance as it is a real treat with home made local specialities washed down with delicious local cider. The continental breakfast too is something to look forward to with freshly squeezed orange juice being the real highlight
Located on a quiet one-way street, you will have no problem parking outside the B&B. There is free WiFi internet access here.

Full of character B&B in pretty countryside in central Normandy location
This lovely bed and breakfast near Avranches, Coutances and Granville in Normandy is centrally located for visiting so many of the sites of Normandy. The D-Day landing beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword and the Battle of Normandy sites and museums are just a short trip away and even a visit to Bayeux is do-able in a day. It is a mere 75 minutes from Cherbourg, Saint Malo and Caen, so well-placed for an overnighter too. But stop for a few days and explore the quiet country lanes of this beautiful corner of Normandy by bike, or pack your golf clubs and book a round or two of golf at any one of the six golf courses that are within a 45 minute drive of the B&B. There are also numerous gorgeous gardens on the Cotentin Peninsula that are open to the public from the Springtime onwards. So much to explore from here.
The traditional, tranquil 17th C farmhouse has been beautifully restored and has a wonderfully bucolic feel about it thanks to its position at the end of a country lane and surrounded by ten acres of grassland. It will appeal very much to those who have environmental matters at heart as your British hosts use their own home-grown wood to fire the woodburning stoves and open fire in the guests' salon and water from a deep bore-hole to heat the water for the house. Homegrown veggies are used for the evening meals so very few food miles in this household!
The huge gardens here invite you to pull up a chair, sit in the sun and simply relax and soak up the peace and tranquillity. Retire inside on cooler days and warm your feet in front of the open log fire in the guests' salon. So cosy. Breakfast is a treat - fruit juice, fruit as in season, cereals, cold meats, fresh bread and pastries, tea and coffee - guaranteed to set you up for a day of sightseeing or for your onward journey. Let your hosts know if you would like a picnic lunch - they would be happy to oblige with advance notice.
The guest rooms are all south-facing, have views across open countryside and are centrally heated using geo-thermal heating. Only good quality bed linen is used and they all have tea and coffee making facilities. There is plenty of safe private free parking at the B&B and there is free WiFi throughout.
